Merchandising rules that work alongside the model, not instead of it
Pin products for seasonal pushes, inventory clearance, or brand partnership obligations. Personalization runs everywhere else in the catalog.
ML ranking and editorial intent are not opposites
A purely ML-ranked storefront has a problem: it optimizes for what's already working. A new product line, an inventory clearance event, a brand partnership obligation, or a seasonal promotion can't wait for the model to learn its way to surfacing those products. You need to push them now.
Traditional merchandising rule engines solve this but at a cost: if you use rules for everything, you've turned off personalization. You're back to one catalog experience for all visitors.
Aislegleam's merchandising module lets you apply rules to specific product sets and position slots, while the ML model continues to personalize everything else. A Summer Edit collection can be pinned to positions 1-3 on the homepage. Positions 4 onward remain personalized per session.
Rules are applied per-placement. The model runs everywhere you don't constrain it.
What you can control
Position pinning
Lock specific products to specific positions on any surface. Pinned products appear at the designated position for all sessions. Use for hero placements, spotlight SKUs, or editorial curation.
Category boosting
Apply a ranking multiplier to an entire product category or tag. Useful for inventory pushes, seasonal promotions, and new collection launches where you want the category visible but still ranked by session intent within it.
Exclusion rules
Remove specific products or categories from surfaces. Use for out-of-stock clearances, compliance-gated products by region, or brand partnership constraints that limit where certain SKUs can be shown.
